THE KEITH GOWTON PROJECT

History rarely remembers ordinary people. Genealogy gives us a way to find them again.

The Keith Gowton Project follows families across generations—from villages in northern England to the coal and industrial communities of western Pennsylvania—using genealogy as a starting point for exploring the larger history that shaped their lives.

These are stories of migration, work, faith, war, hardship, family and survival. They are also part of a larger story: how ordinary people experienced history, even when history rarely recorded their names.

A Living Project

This site is a work in progress, much like the research it documents. New discoveries, historical essays, photographs, and project updates will continue to appear as the journey unfolds.
